The number in the upper left of the map indicates the number of flashes in the last minute.

Red    dots indicate lightning that has occurred in the last 10 minutes.
Orange dots indicate lightning that has occurred in the last 20 minutes.
Purple dots indicate lightning that has occurred in the last 30 minutes.
Blue     dots indicate lightning that has occurred in the last 40 minutes.
Green   dots indicate lightning that has occurred in the last 50 minutes.
Yellow dots indicate lightning that has occurred in the last 60 minutes.
